HOME TOUR | Bathroom

white subway tile and brass fixture bathroom, white and brass bathroom ideas, small bathroom decorating ideas,

Finally! That’s pretty much all I have to say about today’s post.

When I tell you this bathroom has been an epic nightmare, believe me. 3 months, 2 different contractors, and a whole lot of white subway tile, I never thought I’d see the day this bathroom was finished.

Let’s start at the beginning. I found a leak in my bedroom against the door to the bathroom. Carpet was wet and I had no clue where it was coming from. It took them taking everything out of the bathroom to realize it was the toilet (which was of course the LAST thing they took out).  The renovation to put this bathroom back together was tragic. Everything that could have gone wrong, did. From having to rip out 2/3 of the walls to redo them, to things arriving incorrectly or broken. Thankfully though, this experience taught me many lessons in home renovation. Number one being, hire a licensed AND insured contractor. The insured part is the kicker and would’ve saved me a lot of money. A lot.

But I digress, because enough tears (and money) have been shed for this bathroom. Thankfully, I love how it came out. I ended up finding the BEST contractor ever (if you need someone in Atlanta, please email me) and my new shower is pretty freaking amazing. It’s like heaven. Pork kind of likes it too. We decided to get a hand shower to quickly bathe her instead of using a bucket. She thanks me for cutting her bath time in half (she HATES taking a bath). So without further adieu, here is my gorgeous new bathroom that I’m in love with.

The inspiration behind this bathroom was truly an old NYC bathroom with modern touches. I knew I wanted lots of white from subway tiles and brass fixtures. I wasn’t quite sure how the brass would look since it can read a little older and not very modern. My decorators, WA Interiors, really helped pull this vision and design together. We went with modern fixtures from Delta Faucet (the champagne bronze finish is gorgeous) and lots and lots of white matte subway tile. We did a chair rail around the whole bathroom which I never would’ve done without the decorators suggestion. And on the floor (not really pictured, sorry) is a 2 inch hexagon marble tile. It’s really stunning and may be one of my favorite parts of the bathroom. For the walls, we went with a pretty grey color from Clark+Kensington at Ace Hardware called After The Rain. Pretty fitting for my “rain” shower head, right? Having the grey walls were a great compliment to the white and brass in the room and it helped to tie in the grey grout and marble floors. I really could not be happier for how this turned out. And the great news is, I purged so much stuff from when we gutted the bathroom, that my countertop stays nice and clean and my drawers and medicine cabinet are super organized. Stay tuned for a peek inside my medicine cabinet and the products I use everyday coming soon.
