Ways To Wear A Little White Dress

Summer to me screams little white dresses. I’m so ready to get into my summer dresses and sandals too. I think every closet should have a few of these in their closet. They’re casual, comfortable and are easy to style. And they look great against tan skin. Now to just work on that tan of course….

There are so many styles of white dresses to choose from. There’s definitely a style for every body type and personal style. From long and flowy, to short and sexy, there are so many options. I personally love it when they’re in a summer-friendly fabric like linen or cotton. It makes them more comfortable to wear when it starts to really get hot. You can go more boho with a Free People inspired dress, or peasant-style sort of like mine above from Abercrombie & Fitch, or even something more structured. To get started, let’s begin with a pretty summer dress!

How To Style Little White Dresses For Summer

I think these dresses are super versatile since they’re a bit of a blank pallet. It really just depends on the fabric and style that may determine how you’ll style them. Plus, the weather will determine your layers. If it’s still spring, maybe you’ll layer with a jacket, or choose a sneaker instead of a sandal. If it’s hot as can be, it’s all about the flowy white dress with a sandal and bandana in the hair. Here’s a few ways to style little white dresses for summer.

With Gladiator Sandals

This may be one of my favorite things pair with a simple white dress. It feels very classic to me. The litlte white dress outfit above is exactly how I picture that too. Simple white dress, classic lace up gladiator sandals.

With A Denim Jacket

I instantly grab a denim jacket anytime I’m wearing a summery dress. Especially a white one. Blue and white just belong together. Whether you go dark denim, light denim, pink denim, doesn’t matter. Denim jackets and white dresses are a match made in heaven.

With Espadrilles

I think white dresses belong with espadrilles. It’s a match made in summer heaven. Whether you go with a flat espadrille, a wedge, a lace up or anything in between, they’ll work with all those white summer dresses for sure! You can also check out my big post on how to wear espadrilles here.

Top With A Hat

I just love a summer straw hat. It’s a must have accessory for me come summer. I rarely wear them in the winter, but once the warm weather comes, it just feels right. Pairing a panama hat with a little white dress for summer feels like the perfect vacation look.

With Summer Sneakers

A cool and casual way to style your summer white dresses is to pair them with sneakers. I like a good summer sneaker, think canvas sneakers, or espadrille ones. They’re lighter in fabric and compliment a little white dress well. I would maybe leave the really chunky running shoes or even Reebok’s out of the picture here. They can feel heavy and look too chunky for a pretty summer dress. I personally love a good Converse (the platform ones are my favorite) to go with summer dresses.

Pop Of Color

Since a white dress is well, white, why not add a pop of color? Brighten things up by throwing on a red espadrille, a colorful belt, or even a fun bag. It brightens up your outfit and makes your look pop!
