We are in full-blown holiday madness, friends. I still can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner and that 2019 is just a short ways away. It’s crunch time for sure. And it’s also that time of year for last minute parties and gatherings. I don’t know about you, but I’m not the type to go out and buy a whole new outfit for a holiday party. Unless it’s something epic of course. But for that friend’s get together, or drinks with friends, there’s no need to go shopping for something crazy fancy.

You all know I’m a jeans and tee kind of gal. I like to keep things pretty easy going. So it’s no surprise when I have to head to a holiday party I don’t want to get all dolled up in a sparkly dress. It’s never been me, personally. For those more laid back holiday events, stick to these few tricks that won’t break the bank and will make you feel good!

Tips To Elevate Your Everyday Outfit For the Holidays

Add A Pop Of Holiday Color

This outfit could totally work on any ‘ol day, but adding these amazing earrings in a bold red hue makes it all feel more festive. Same goes for a gorgeous green. Adding jewelry is one of my favorite and easiest ways to dress up an outfit.

Stick To Cotton

Ever put on a sparkly dress? They’re not comfortable. They’re itchy. Sweaters are also itchy. You know what isn’t itchy? My go-to cotton fabric. It’s breathable, comfortable and easy to clean. All the things I enjoy in my clothing for a party. Plus, who else is guilty of always getting something on themselves at parties or dinners? I know I am. Cotton is easy to clean by throwing it in the wash. No one has time to run to the dry cleaners this time of year. I love a great button-down in 100% cotton, but so long as you’re finding something that’s cotton rich, you’ll definitely feel more comfortable. Also my jeans and jacket are nearly 100% cotton, which is something I always look for in my denim. I like to keep it to no more than 2-4% stretch—you really don’t need more than that for a super comfortable pair of jeans.

Add Tartan

Tartan (or plaid) is a classic holiday print that instantly feels more festive. This 100% cotton button-down from J. Crew is the ideal piece to add to black jeans and a denim jacket. It feels good and looks the part. You could also pair it with a black corduroy skirt for something a bit more dressy.

Swipe A Bold Lip On

Last, but not least, add a bold red lip. It can make a little black dress feel more festive. It can also make jeans and a white 100% cotton tee and heels, feel just as festive too. Lately, I’ve been rocking my Beautycounter lipstick in Girls’ Night. It’s a gorgeous red that I think is universally flattering on all skin shades.

I love the shirt and it looks super cute on you. Is it TTS or did you have to size up? I’ve read mixed reviews but it looks perfect on you.
