Reasons To Visit Charleston this fall

I could always come up with an excuse to visit Charleston but fall may be the best time to experience this charming city. Summer is beautiful of course with all the gorgeous flowers in bloom. April may be hard to beat since the smell of jasmine takes over the city. And yes, winter is actually a great time to go. It’s offseason and the weather is so great. But fall is giving April and blooming jasmine a run for its money.

Charleston is oftentimes hot as can be. So visiting in the fall when the air is crisp and the weather is mild, is ideal. Plus, if the flowers aren’t in FULL bloom, there’s at least fall foliage, pumpkins and charming fall decor around every corner.

Three Reasons To Visit Charleston In The Fall

The Weather

No need to sweat your way through King Street and all of the food. Instead, the weather in the fall is mild, comfortable and usually pretty sunny. We explored the whole week in light jackets and took them off often to enjoy the warm sunshine.

Less Crowds

Although this isn’t technically off-season for Charleston, because it’s cooler weather and the beaches are in fact in off-season, Charleston itself isn’t AS busy. If you Google peak season for charleston, fall is still part of it. But in my experience, it’s not as busy. Hotels may not be significantly cheaper just yet, but you definitely don’t feel overwhelmed by crowds in the city during late fall.

Enjoy The Rooftops

There’s something about a great rooftop that I just love. But attempting to enjoy them in the summer is impossible in Charleston. Instead, fall is perfect to enjoy all of the great rooftops. A few favorites include The Watch Rooftop at The Restoration Hotel, Skinny Dip (get the frosé), The Cocktail Club and Fiat Lux at Hotel Bennett.
