Doggy Daycare

When I told Pork I was quitting my job and that I wouldn’t be traveling as much I think she was actually a little disappointed. You see, when I would head out of town, it meant she got to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Which was basically like going to sleep away camp. Big backyard, way too many table scraps and tons of belly rubs. At my house she gets plenty of belly rubs, but we’re in a high rise and the joys of running around a backyard barking at anything and everything isn’t really possible. So she may not be as thrilled that my travel has subsided for now, but I am happy to see her more.

While traveling a bunch for work I did have to rely sometimes on dog walkers.  Sometimes people would ask why I didn’t just put her in a doggy day care for a few days. However, Pork is an introvert and has some serious leash issues with other dogs. She also doesn’t play well in big groups. It’s very overwhelming for her and you can just see the uneasiness in her face when she’s in those situations. I quickly learned the value of spending the money to have someone come to my home to spend time with her in her own environment. It’s best for her to stick to a routine and not have to be overwhelmed with tons of dogs at a doggy daycare. Plus, I’ve heard some horror stories of my friends dogs getting bit at them. This just isn’t for my dog (she’d be the one biting probably anyway). So when DogVacay asked me to try out their DogVacay Daycare I of course said yes! DogVacay is a great online community of dog sitters that helps to connect dog owners with vetted and insured dog sitters in your area. DogVacay Daycare is one of their newer services that allows dog owners like myself to get some peace of mind by having your pet stay at your own home (or if your dog wants to go to “camp” they can go to the sitters home!). This is ideal for someone like Pork who just can not do daycare with tons of other dogs.  So here’s what a fun day at DogVacay Daycare would look like… terrier via @mystylevita - 1 (1)

We’d play! This lobster toy is Pork’s favorite, it’s as long as she is!

My dog also doesn’t really do well hanging out with other pups and we only take him to the kennel if absolutely necessary. This would be such a great service if my boyfriend or had a long day and weren’t able to be home for him in time!

This is a really great option that I wish I knew about before my Akita passed. However, when I’m in the mindset to have another dog, I will use this. By the way, Hey Pork! I always enjoying seeing your face on the blog 🙂

    Happy Thursday!

Sounds like you’re going to just have to make trips out to the folks’ place with Pork now 😉
