This has been a question I’ve received a few times from folks who are looking to add an oil to their skincare routine. As you may have seen in this MASSIVE face oil post I did, there’s more to oil than you think. I for one always thought it was for dried out skin that was thirsty for oil. But it turns out, there’s oils and formulas that are for every skin type. You just have to find the RIGHT one.
Some oils add in more hydration and fatty acids to help improve skin texture, elasticity and also add moisture like crazy. There are some that help to brighten and encourage cellular turnover. Then there’s some that help to regulate those of you who may be super oily (that’s me!). I personally, never once thought I should put oil on my face until I learned all about the different TYPES of oils and how they work for different TYPES of skin concerns.
Beautycounter has quickly become a go-to beauty and skincare brand that I love. So much so, that I signed up to be a consultant. It simply made sense between the blog and Instagram and wanting to get behind a company who’s making big changes in the beauty world.
There are three Beautycounter face oils that are available and each one is specific to the skin concerns you may have. And there’s definitely one for everyone. Here’s a guide of which non-toxic Beautycounter oil is right for you!

No. 2 Plumping Facial Oil
Who Is This For
The No. 2 oil is great for all skin types who are concerned with dry skin, loss of elasticity and fine lines.

No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil
Who Is This For
The last oil is best for all skin types who have concerns with skin clarity, calming and balancing. If you’re oily, this can be the ideal oil to try out of the three.
If you’re oily, Ylang Ylang is one of the main ingredients in this facial oil which can help to regulate oil production while still being hydrating.
How To Use Beautycounter Face Oils
All of these oils are to be used AFTER you cleanse your skin and before you apply a moisturizer. You likely won’t want to add a moisturizer on top of this unless you’re adding an SPF or are just insanely dry. I recommend trying the oils to see how they change your skin texture and moisture as you may find you won’t need a moisturizer anymore. Especially at night!
Ideally, double cleanse, tone and then apply 4-6 drops of your oil to your fingertips and then PRESS it into your skin. All three should absorb fairly quickly into your skin. Be sure to let it absorb before applying more products afterward. So brush your teeth, floss, do something else while this soaks in.
