A No Heat Hairstyle For Day or Night

A No Heat Hairstyle For Day or Night

This time of year usually means holiday parties! But besides having a great hairstyle for a holiday party, why not have something you can turn to when you’re in need of a hair pick me up? I know you know that feeling. The, I’m sick of my hair right now and want to throw it up in a stupid ponytail but that also looks boring. Well here’s my no heat solution to a quick hair pick me up that is also perfect for a holiday party.

The thing that makes this hairstyle so great and easy is that you can do it on hair that’s dirty and so ready to be washed. You don’t have to put any tools on your hair. Just maybe some dry shampoo if it’s THAT gross (PS I love this one). This hairstyle was one on day old hair after I did my usual everyday waves. You can watch the video for that here at the bottom of the post.  But you can do this on just straight hair, your dirty hair, whatever. There’s no need to do a fresh blowout for this at all. Plus, all you need for the tutorial is one hair tie and a bobby pin. Easy enough, right? Here’s how to do my simple no heat braid-wrapped bun.

Step One

You’ll want to pull your hair back into a ponytail but leave a small chunk out on the side as you see here. You can also put the pony wherever you want. If you want a high ponytail, go high. I personally like this as a low ponytail, I think it’s a bit more elegant. While the small piece of hair is left out, wrap your ponytail into a messy bun. For this style, I just wrapped the pony twice, and on the third, only pulled it through 2/3 of the way. It leaves a big loop and the layers add some texture when they fall out of it a bit. I like it a tad messy!

Step Two

Pull the hair that you set aside out and begin a three strand braid. You can also do a fishtail braid here if you want a different look. Once you do your braid, pull it apart a bit so it adds some more texture to the braid. I actually forgot to do this and it still looks fine. But more texture (especially on dark hair like mine) makes it a lot easier to see. You can also add some texture powder and pull it apart gently.

Step Three

Once your braid is finished, you’ll then wrap it around your hair tie. Just secure it with a bobby pin and you’re all set! Then pull a few face-framing layers out to complete the look!
