Mornings at La Belugue And A Visit To Lavender Fields

Let me give you a little backstory about first, our decision to book a trip to France. But then our decision to book at La Belugue. My best friend Kristin and I travel a ton together if you haven’t noticed. Between her crazy travel schedule, and my flexible schedule, we’ve become great travel buddies. Our friend Ali is a teacher and during her summer break she wanted to head somewhere with us, the travel duo. While at brunch one day chatting about travel and bucket lists, South of France came up. After indulging in all the brunch goodness, we did a thing. We booked three tickets to Paris and planned to figure out the rest later. This is also the SECOND time Kristin and I have booked trips on a whim at Superica brunch. It’s a dangerous place now….

Next it was time to decide where to go in Nice and Provence (we did regional flights to the area since we did roundtrip out of Paris). While looking up things to do in Provence, I found a fun cooking class that sounded interesting. While looking at it, Kristin remembered her co-worker has a friend with a bed and breakfast in Provence. Mind you, Provence is MASSIVE.  Turns out the cooking class I found online, was the one her co-worker’s friend hosts. We decided to go ahead and book a room at La Belugue, an authentic and  warm home for us to stay in for a couple of nights.

The property was gorgeous and in the tiniest most off the beaten path village of Beaumant de Purtuis in Luberon.  When we arrived, we were greeted with wine by the pool that looked over the vineyards, Kelly’s adorable dogs and big hugs. Each morning we had breakfast outside overlooking the property complete with freshly baked croissants from the patisserie down the road and yogurt with her homemade cherry compote. To say it was a Provençal morning is an understatement.

On our big tour day, we did three things, La Coste winery, truffle hunting and lastly, lavender fields. After a big breakfast, we were ready for the long day of adventure.  The last thing on our list that day were lavender fields and it really is a sight to see. Imagine wine country with rolling hills and little chateaus perched on top. Instead of grape vines it’s purple as far as the eye can see. Everything was in full bloom and so stunning. The colors vibrant and super saturated. It didn’t take long to find a great spot to stop and snap a few photos. I was so excited to be able to check this off the bucket list.
