4 Ways To Tie A Scarf

Temperatures have dropped and are finally here to stay. I’ve brought out all my scarves and have started to wear them on repeat. They’re an essential winter accessory if you ask me. With this being my new go to way to stay warm for the season, I wanted to share 4 new ways you probably haven’t thought to wear your favorite scarves. I teamed up with Garnet Hill a few weeks ago and headed to Santa Barbara to create this fun content. I’ve got a few more posts to share from that fun California trip but this is probably the one I love most.

Watch the video below to see the 4 ways to tie a scarf. Which is your favorite? I’ve also broken each of them down with some of my favorite looks on how to style it.

4 WAYS TO TIE A SCARF

THE BELTED WRAP

The first look may actually be my personal favorite. Belting a wrap I think is key to helping to keep your shape.  I loved the double belt that we used in the look above. But also adding a pop of leopard like we did below is obviously a good idea too. Note in the video on the back, it’s nice and draped without being held down with the belt. So you just want the belt to show in the front. After you tie your belt, make sure the wrap criss crosses a bit in the front.

 THE DOUBLE KNOT

The best way to bundle that neck up!  Just wrap your favorite scarf around your neck twice, keep in mind to keep one side super short. Then when you knot it, drape one side of the knot over your shoulder. To me, that is a key step to keeping this one looking clean and not overwhelming.

THE PRETZEL

The ultimate knot if you ask me. This is such a fun update on your everyday scarf loop. Instead of doing one loop and putting both ends through, put one end through, then twist your loop, and thread the second end through. I’ll be wearing this a lot this fall as I think it’s such a great way to add some volume to thinner scarves and wraps.

THE ONE SHOULDER DRAPE

This one shoulder drape was a fun and unique one that our stylist came up with. It’s a great one to use for warmer days when you just need a scarf, or for a wedding. It’s a nice way to wrap yourself in a stylish way that will for sure be different than everyone else in the room. The key to this one is to make sure you keep one side much longer than the other. You’ll grab the longer side, and grab underneath it, and pull the outer most part up and over your shoulder to create the twist. You can see in the below images how I turn the outer most side inward and upward. You can also play with how much or little you drape it which is fun.
