4 Secrets To An Instantly Cozier Home

A few weeks ago I headed to Santa Barbara with Garnet Hill to create some really fun content with their cashmere. From cozy wraps to sweaters and blankets, we transformed 4 rooms with cozy cashmere. These hacks to cozy up your home are so simple to do and one is a favorite unexpected layering technique. Can you guess which one? Hint, it involves the cutest pillows around.

I have to be honest with you all though, this isn’t my home. Insert major sad face with loads of tears. We used the most gorgeous southern California chic home in Montecito and I wish I could’ve moved in. Pork would’ve loved it.  It perfectly fit the backdrop though of casual comfort which is basically the definition of my style. With a touch of luxe of course with the luxurious cashmere.

Everything the Garnet Hill team came up with so creative and I’m thankful they were there to make me look better. I loved all of these ideas that I had to share them all with you. With the holidays around the corner, and company coming in to town, this is an easy way to add some warmth to your home.

Watch the video to see how we cozy up 4 rooms with cashmere. Then check out how to break down each look to recreate it in your own home. PS you can follow my YouTube channel here.

HOW TO COZY UP YOUR BED

First thing’s first, my favorite spot in the home, the bed! My bed is my happy place. It’s home to the many hours of Netflix binging. Which I’m currently rewatching Friends from the start. To cozy up your bed with cashmere you can do the standard throw at the end of your duvet. Which is fine, I do that too. But layering a throw over your headboard to add texture and interest was a fun new idea I hadn’t thought of before. I love how it added so much to this neutral headboard but still didn’t overpower the room.  Just make sure it’s centered and laying nice and flat so it doesn’t look messy.

Add a throw to your bedside chair or ottomon with a tray and some of your favorite things. Like the latest book your reading, candle and fresh flowers. This is a nice touch for when guests are visiting. They can easily gather an extra blanket if they’re cold without needing to ask for it.

HOW TO COZY UP YOUR FAVORITE CHAIR

Yup, this one’s my personal favorite. It’s so unexpected and helps to update a neutral piece of furniture. If you’re afraid of color and tend to go for neutral furniture, this is a great way to try color in your home. Layering not one but two cashmere throws behind a chair cushion is a super fun and innovative way to utilize your throws. When playing with color I recommend finding a color in the color wheel and going a shade in either direction. For contrast, hop across the color wheel to find your complementary color. Plus, these pillows, I want them all! They add so much texture to the soft cashmere that it helps create the perfect balance.

HOW TO COZY UP YOUR DINING ROOM

Around the hoidays, dinner always seems to linger in the dining room for hours afterwards. Some people end up making their way to the couch in the living room. I’d say for the most part in our family, we spend most of the evening around the dining table just gabbing away. This little trick is a great way to keep your guests hanging out longer and feeling right at home, which I love. Adding a folded cashmere throw over each seat is a nice way to invite guests to hang out and pour another glass of wine and stay a while. Alternate the colors or go all monochromatic for a sleek look.  They’re great to grab and head into the living room to finish off the evening with friends too.

HOW TO COZY UP YOUR COUCH

I’ll be honest, this one is a bit of a no brainer.  I mean, who doesn’t love a good blanket to cozy up on their couch and enjoy a glass of wine? Exactly. But here me out first, because I do have some tips to help making this look pretty and styled. First, get yourself a nice big basket to keep on the side of your couch. Fill it with some extra blankets because you always need more than one, and any extra pillows. Also, layer your ottoman with a cashmere throw and top with a bowl like we did here to help create some contrast with all the beige. Instant update to a neutral living room. It’s all about adding and mixing textures which help to cozy up your home to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
