A New Addition To My Travel Routine

I’ve shared many times some of my favorite travel tips and insight. You learn quite a lot when you run into hiccups, snags and unfortunate situations like losing your luggage while overseas…. I’ll never forget my first ever international visit with my Dad. It’s a trip that had me learn quick on what to pack in terms of staying healthy and protecting myself against falling ill on future vacations. Here’s what happened.

I met my Dad over in Italy while he was there for a business trip. His side of the family is from there (hello, last name is Camerata) so it was an amazing trip to experience our history, culture and see where our family name originated from. We’re from Vernazza in the Cinque Terre, pretty much the prettiest place on Earth. I went in July and it was HOT and we did a ton of sight seeing. While in Rome, I noticed I was starting to come down with a urinary tract infection (UTI). You know what I’m talking about. It sucks and it happens. With all the walking, being dehydrated and not a whole lot of water in my system, it was inevitable. I ended up popping into a hospital to see what I could do about an antibiotic. We still had several days left in our trip and I just couldn’t imagine waiting until returning back to the states. Plus my Dad was getting sick of me going to the bathroom constantly.  We called my Grandfather back in New York to help translate what he could to the doctor thanks to a huge language barrier. After a quick visit (and I took a selfie while in the hospital bed to never forget that ridiculous moment) I went on my way to the nearest pharmacy to get an antibiotic. A big waste of time if you ask me and not the most ideal situation to be in while overseas with your Dad….

Just like all my past experiences from traveling, this one taught me a few things. First, download Google Translate. Second, be more prepared with your vitamins, supplements and any other items you need to help protect your body from falling ill. A really great way that this could have been avoided was by using AZO’s cranberry gummies or pills. Adding these to your daily routine (and making sure you pack them for your travels!) can help protect your urinary tract health along with drinking lots of water and actually going to the bathroom when you have to. Sure you can add cranberry juice to your daily breakfast routine, but for me, i’m not big on drinking juice. All the sugar isn’t worth it, so these gummies and even the easy pills are a great way to still get the powerful antioxidant which can help protect your urinary tract.
