Over the weekend Cathy and I headed to DC to host our 2nd TBS The Workshop. It was an unseasonably warm weekend in the high 60s and lots of sunshine. After we wrapped our workshop (more to come on that over on The Blog Societies) we spent the rest of Saturday laying in bed resting. Between my cold and speaking all day, rest was needed. I slept for 10 hours (The Willard has the most comfy beds you guys) and was finally well rested since getting sick a week ago. We spent Sunday in Cathy’s old neighborhood getting brunch at one of her favorite spots, Open City DC. Rosa, our fabulous photographer for the weekend and friend, joined us to devour waffles, huevos ranchero and lots of coffee.
While walking around Woodly Park, we stumbled onto these colorful row homes. I just love that DC has these, so much more fun that anything you see in Atlanta if you ask me. After brunch we decided to enjoy the perfect weather and took a walk to The Capital. I’ve been to DC easily half a dozen times in the last couple of years for my old day job, vacation and TBS stuff and every single time, The Capital was covered in scaffolding. As soon as we saw that it was finally done we knew we had to take a closer look. It was such a perfect breezy day and it was so neat to see it in person and up close.
It also seems every time we travel for work, we always regret not staying an extra day to really enjoy wherever we are. So going forward, an extra night to play tourist is required. Would’ve loved to have stopped into a museum or two and maybe tried out a new restaurant (or just devour Sweetgreen….get with it Atlanta!).
