There’s nothing I love more than a good warm apple cider during the holidays. I’m less for the hot chocolate (unless it’s this of course) and lean more towards a cider with all the warming spices. So obviously, I had to create a boozy version of one of my fall favorite drinks. A few weeks ago it was my spiked hot chocolate, and this week, it’s all about the apple cider julep.
Technically it’s not a julep, but go along with it for me won’t you? A classic julep is bourbon or whiskey, sugar cubes, mint and shaved ice and maybe a splash of water. Served in a mint julep cup of course. It’s a classic cocktail that’s refreshing and delicious. I took the idea and ran with it though and instead of the sugar cubes, the mint and water (basically the whole thing), I decided to swap it all out for a good splash of apple cider and and ounce and a half of bourbon. Garnished with a cinnamon stick, a slice of apple and a dusting of ground cinnamon, this still feels mint julep-y in such a fall way.
PS My apple crostata is a fall favorite if you’re looking for more apple recipes!
