The Love For The Top Knot Continues

half top knot ideas for hair, half up hair ideas - My Style Vita @mystylevita

Last month I shared my love for the low ponytail, well more so envy than anything with my short hair. Since I’ve been forced to embrace the half up more often now than ever I’m gathering some inspiration to change it up a bit. No I won’t be doing blue hair (although her hair kind of rules right?) but I love the added braid, the gold accessory, or making it SUPER thick and chunky.  I’m loving all of these half top knot ideas for different reasons and am ready to try each one of them. This is definitely a style I need to rock a little more than I have been.

If you haven’t ever tried a half top knot, don’t worry! For some reason it can be a little intimidating trying this style when we’re all more used to just a ponytail. I did a super simple tutorial on how to recreate the basic version of this fun hair style.  Don’t forget to see how to create the half top knot with my tutorial here.

Hi! I was wondering if you had any layers in your hair at all. I have super thick hair like yours and when I’ve had blunt cuts in the past, it ends up looking like a triangle or the Pyramid of Giza. 😉 Yours does not look like this and I love your haircut, so I was wondering what to ask for when I go to my stylist. Thanks!

I have them take out the weight of my hair by taking a scissor and running it along the hair. It takes out a ton of bulk. Usually if you ask them to take the weight out, they’ll know what you mean. Also, let them know that you’re having issues with the triangle look, a good stylist will know how to fix!
