Over the weekend my gal pal, Lauren of Fashionably Lo and myself, headed to Loews Atlanta as they were hosting us for a little girls staycation. You know the kind where you drink lots of wine (and pair it with meat and cheeses) and then enjoy dessert, a great night sleep and then an amazing spa treatment. Yeah, that kind of staycation. I grabbed my Lo & Sons bag, filled it up with just a few things (and Pork’s favorite bone) and we were off!
We headed down to Loews Atlanta Saturday afternoon. It’s just a quick drive from my house, but you feel like you’re in a completely different world when you’re in that neighborhood (and I’m now seriously considering moving out of my area….). From the walkability of so many great restaurants like STK, Mi Cocina, Cucina Asellina and so many more, plus the iconic Joes on Juniper and always delicious Einsteins. There’s so much to do within a one block radius of this hotel that I just wanted to move in. Pork joined as well, they’re super dog friendly and even gave her a welcome package upon arrival, and she enjoyed the fact that Piedmont Park was two, yes two blocks away. It’s Atlanta’s Central Park and is really a beautiful green space to spend time in.
Lauren and I headed to Saltwood for dinner and drinks Saturday night. Any place that focuses mainly on charcuterie already gets a gold star from me. I loved that all their meats and cheeses were local or regional. Just great ingredients from local farmers from Atlanta or neighboring states. We were treated with a tasting menu and I think the tuna tartar was my favorite. May be the best I ever had actually. We finished the meal off with some dessert, banana pudding, a deconstructed Snickers bar (so good) and moonshine milkshakes! Heaven!
After dinner we headed to Cafe Intermezzo for a little coffee and tea. It’s attached to the hotel and is a no brainer choice after a big meal. I felt like we were transformed into a little side street of Paris for a second. Something about eating on a sidewalk makes me very happy.
Sunday we headed to Exhale Spa which is located inside and also has a beautiful gym (think everything you want in a gym but it all has a spa feel to it…. no excuses not to workout, whoops we totally failed here!). Lauren even has a membership there and loves it. We had good intentions Sunday morning on heading to Exhale for a barre class to sweat out all the wine and cheese from the night before, but we were way too hungry to even think about breaking a sweat and went straight for breakfast. Which was kind of the best idea ever. Nutella and banana waffle anyone? We had such a huge spread of bacon, potatoes, eggs, biscuits, you name it, I think we ate it. After that we strolled down to Piedmont Park before heading in for a full body massage. Oh how I love a great massage. Really was the perfect morning!
If you’re traveling to Atlanta, or looking for a little getaway with some friends, definitely check out the Loews Atlanta, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we (including Pork) did.
