One of my favorite flavor combinations is grapefruit and basil. Something about the tangy citrus and the sweet fragrant basil creates the perfect balance for me. And throwing in tequila gives it just the right amount of kick to get me excited. I used a new tequila I recently discovered, Partida. It’s smooth and pairs well with the citrus in this margarita “up”.
1.5 oz Partida tequila
1.5 oz grapefruit juice
1 slice of grapefruit
1 squeeze of honey or agave
3-4 basil leaves
1. Tear the basil leaves into a shaker.
2. Add the slice of grapefruit & agave then muddle together.
3. Add ice, tequila and juice and shake.
4. Pour into a martini glass an garnish with fresh basil.
*Side note* If you aren’t a fan of tequila, you can easily swap out the liquor for vodka or gin. This is actually REALLY good with vodka even though I’m not a fan of it. Grapefruit goes well with all three of these liquors so swap it out!
