For living in a small home, it’s always important to maximize your space with furniture that doesn’t overwhelm. For the dining area, this nook was perfect for simple ladder shelves with decorative items filling the shelves up. Having a dining table with a glass top helps to also  open the space up and to not overwhelm it. Originally, the chandelier here was wrought iron and not very contemporary. I swapped this out with this simple West Elm glass single light fixture that allows you to move your eye through the room to the shelves. It’s amazing what a change this one item made to the entire space.

For the kitchen, would you believe me if I told you I actually finished a DIY project? My pantry doors were my first ever successful DIY that I can recall….ever.  I like to start them and never finish, or buy a few supplies and then never go back to it. But this one project I was determined to complete. And so glad I did.  It was super easy picking out a pantry door at Home Depot and then painting it with chalkboard paint….careful not to paint my entire patio…. and then installing it. It was super easy and so worth the time.  It’s a fun piece in the kitchen that allows me to write my to do list, grocery list, or little reminders.

Love to see that Pork prefers your chair to the bed, somehow they all seem to know they own the whole house.
